KARACHI: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday decided to deploy the paramilitary Rangers inside and outside the polling stations of NA-246, where by-election is scheduled to be held on April 23.

According to the ECP, the decision has been taken in the wake of law and order situation in Karachi. The head of the Rangers team during polling would be entitled to use magisterial powers, it said.

It is pertinent to mention here Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had demanded deployment of military troops or Rangers force on polling day in NA-246. –Samaa
