ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday. The meeting continued for more than one hour during which the leaders exchanged views on the situation at the eastern and western borders of the country and internal and external security situation.
The army chief gave a detailed briefing to PM Nawaz Sharif on operation Zarb-e-Azb and the land offensive in North Waziristan. The process of reconstruction and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) was also discussed during the meeting.
General Raheel also briefed the prime minister about his meetings with US National Security Adviser Susan Rice and the German foreign minister. Media reports said the targeted operation in Karachi, law and order situation in Sindh and arrests of key political figures during the recent times came under discussion between the prime minister and army chief during the meeting.
