Musharraf invites Mustafa Kamal to join APML
DUBAI – Former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf is looking at erstwhile city nazim (mayor) Karachi Mustafa Kamal as his new lieutenant as he telephoned him and invited to join the APML.
Sources have confirmed that the former president has formally invited former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader, to join his political party. Musharraf has invited Kamal to Dubai for a meeting in which, according to sources, the latter was likely to swear political allegiance to the former. Musharraf says his party will contest local government elections.
The 71-year-old returned to Pakistan in March 2013 after four years of self-imposed exile to run in general elections, vowing to “save” the country from the Taliban violence and economic ruin. “We will go in local body polls with the slogan of ‘Pakistan first’ and win,” he told AMPL’s central executive committee.
