JI leader’s appeal against death rejected by Bangladesh court

DHAKA: Bangladesh Supreme Court (SC) rejected petition against death penalty filed by Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Qamar-uz-Zaman who was pronounced to death over involvement in war crimes.

Bangladesh SC rejected mercy appeal of JI leader Muhammad Qamar-uz-Zaman and retained death pronouncement for him. JI leader was declared guilty of supporting Pakistan over war crimes in 1971 independence war.
