Asma Iqbal completed her undergraduate studies in Arts and Education. She began her career with ATV as a news anchor and worked there for nearly one year. Later, she joined Express News and was trained by high-profile foreign journalists from a virtual studio. In 2008, she joined Geo News and covered a spate of events including bomb blasts and suicide attacks. She also did a stint at City 42—a city-specific news channel—as a prime time news anchor and conducted special transmissions. She has also been associated with Samaa TV and Aaj News where she worked as an anchorperson.
During her career, she has worked with a number of media heavyweights such as Mubashir Luqman, Jasmin Manzoor and more. She has also had the rare privilege of working with some famous foreign journalists.
